Disability insurance also referred to as Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance – pays a lump sum to help clear debts and assist with the ongoing costs of living if you become totally and permanently disabled. TPD insurance is designed to cater for serious accidents and illnesses where it is more than likely that you will never be able to return to work.
It is possible to apply for TPD Insurance as a policy on its own (stand alone) or as a combined policy with your Term Life insurance. You can hold your TPD Insurance policy either within or outside of the superannuation environment.
